As the web progresses and people become more seo savvy the search engines will keep changing things to try and identify which sites are really offering good content and services and which are just giving that appearance. Which ever way the engines algorithms work to explore and rank our sites it is important that we do the basic things very well. That is to make it clear through keywords what our site is about, give good original content and keep it fresh, and find good quality related sites to get backlinks from. These things will do the basics and the rest you use to tweak for that edge you might be able to get over competitors in the fine tuning.<!-- Touched by JuLiA -->

This scares me a little bit, but glad to know that new stuff could be coming out - at least get out of the comfort zone and keep an eye on any new patents Google may file... although they've had quite a few dormant ones that they've never used.<!-- Touched by JuLiA -->
