Happy new year to you all. I hope you all had an awesome time over the festive season and that the year has started well for all of you. I was in New Zealand and it was absolutely gorgeous, if a little cold. I urge you all to go there if you have the chance, what breathtaking scenery. I am looking forward to the months ahead, and I am really looking forward to reading about all the new research and talking to lots of interesting people about their work. I have new year resolutions, I think they’re a good way to steer your life in the right direction. Some people say they’re useless but I would reply that they need to pick better resolutions
Here are mine:
- Surf more
- Finish all my thesis corrections
- Do some more research in Human Computer Interaction
- Write more (blog posts, articles, chapters and more)
- Stay in touch with friends more
- Have a tidy Desktop
- Comment code better and more often (!)
- Make at least 1 tool for the SEO community
- Tag up my photos properly
- Be even more experimental
- Collect and sort more data
- Tidy up the mess that is my music collection
And also:
- Find a music manager I am entirely happy with
- Use a variety of search engines for different tasks
- Survive another holiday without computer & Internet access
- Read a whole lot more about areas of computing I am fuzzy on
- Share more knowledge
- …and surf more….
Good luck for the year ahead and may you all achieve great things and contribute to our community even more than ever before. We need smart people to show us new things ![]()
