Moving out

This blog has been devoid of TLC these last few months, and as I sat to think about why I realised that the reason was pretty simple: I want to blog about other stuff.

I am working in the advertising world right now and I’m really enjoying the work and the clients. It has given me the opportunity to explore areas of interest that I haven’t used in industry to such an extent in the last few years, but used a lot in my PhD.  SEO has really changed and there are a lot of really useful developments in social media and the web itself that make me feel like writing about those things rather than SEO alone.  My work involves many other areas, and I would like to share those with you as well.

They are:

  • User experience
  • Human Computer Interaction
  • Data visualisation
  • Data mining
  • Online brand identitiy
  • Semantic web
  • The future
  • Cool robots
  • Thinking
  • Not Thinking
  • Sentiment analysis
  • Information retrieval
  • Digital Strategy
  • Random thoughts
  • People
  • Living in a digital world
  • …and I think I might bring back TGIF too icon smile Moving out

Many many many hours have gone into this blog and I have really enjoyed sharing all of that with you. I hope that you will enjoy the new blog even more than this one, and that you will come and join that conversation.

I know many of you still visit and that the archives are used so I will keep it afloat for you and it should be used as a resource, but I won’t be updating it anymore.

The new blog will be housed over at http://www.mcjenkins.com once it’s ready to go live. I will let you know when that is.

Thank you for your support over the years and all of your comments and continued interest. You can find me on twitter for my daily thoughts and news share too if you like.

Hugh McLeod makes a lot of sense and I get my business cards from him at Gapingvoid. His philosophy is one of no Bull, which is how this blog was run and the next will be. Thank you for all the inspiration Hugh icon smile Moving out

CJ about a year or so ago I went through the same thing. I had been writing mostly seo and marketing related post, but found myself with little to say about each and a desire to write more about design and development.

It took a little while to get into the new flow, but a year later it’s all been good. The quality of the posts has been better because I’m more interested in them and people have responded.

I’m sharing not so much to tell you what I’ve been up to, but to wish you luck changing course. If I did it you can do it too. It might take a little while to get into a new rhythm, but I’m sure it’ll go well.

Well CJ, I hate to see you have to leave the blog. I was a big fan of a lot of the more technical SEO aspects that you shared. That being said, I greatly look forward to the new blog and wish you nothing but success in your continued ventures in advertising.

I have been a long term follower of this blog too and are sad to see you move on, you and Dave (of the Fire Trial) really opened my knowledge of computer science SEO up a lot more and it has definitely proven useful over the last year/year and a half.

Will be continuing to follow you on Twitter and good luck from me too.
