I thought I would do a little dance a give a little w00t for the new data repository that we now have access to. All researchers will be delighted to know that you can now access raw data from the Data.gov
repository. I’m also pleased because we can suggest new datasets which means this has the potential to grow and flourish as a resource.
“The purpose of Data.gov is to increase public access to high value, machine readable datasets generated by the Executive Branch of the Federal Government.”
Why am I happy? This means that I now have a whole new world of data to feed into my system. The more machine readable data we have the better. It has always been an issue in computing, finding test and training data, finding knowledge and information. Hopefully there will be more and more sharing of resources so that we can deploy machines which are seriously knowledgeable, even if they’re not smart!
It’s a fascinating dataset too. If you’re one of those people who like to read the dictionary once in a while, you’ll like this
