I found it particularly enlightening when they went over the though processes behind the readers. Also, even though the sample wasn't really statistically relevant from a "tools" standpoint, I thought it was interesting that only 3 of the 13 in the sample table used "RSS Aggregators" (I assume that means a feed reader) Personally, I can't live without Google Reader these days. Like you I use it to swiftly go through my large blog list (over 500 since last count), but I also do the same thing that you do. I only have a handful that I classify as “Always good” and I almost never skim those.
